Wind Energy Development, LLC is very passionate about teaching the community about renewable energy and helping Rhode Island reduce carbon emissions.

URI Energy Fellow Program

WED embraces the future of renewable energy in every way, including advancing the careers of students pursuing careers in renewable energy. In 2016 WED sponsored an energy fellow from URI who will complete a full year internship with the company.  In addition, WED will host an event for all the 2016 fellows to explain our business and opportunities in renewable energy.  Through the URI fellowship program students are able to attend events pertaining to renewables, examine process and trends on sites and gain valuable experience working in the energy sector. This fellowship helps the student gain valuable experience in their chosen field, promotes local renewable efforts and foster the next generation of renewable energy employees.

Fire Fighter Training

To plan for the safety of the community and specifically the first responders WED has established a partnership with the Warwick Special Hazards first responders to develop a statewide, comprehensive wind turbine training program that ensures safety for the entire State.

The program, which will be used by the RI Fire Academy, is the first of its kind and will include different calibers of training. The West Warwick firefighters will be given special hazards training to act as the first responders in the rare case of an accident at the turbines. We are proactively helping to develop and implement this program as Rhode Island plans for wind turbine technology to rapidly expand across the state. Now that renewable energy has become such a priority for Rhode Island, first responders need to be ready.

Charitable Donations

WED takes pride in giving back to the community in any way that we can. WED has given numerous generous donations to many different organizations including Special Olympics R.I., S.M.I.L.E. and the Rainbow Race. WED is a proud to be a part of so many amazing local organizations that help promote a giving back locally. WED will continue to strive to help organizations it believes in. Through being involved with these organization WED has established relationships and connections with other local charities, further enriching WED’s deep rooted relationship with Rhode Island.
